Family and friends continue to search for a 90-year-old Garden Valley man who went missing Monday morning.

Lynn R. Borg, 90, left his home on the 100 block of Cedrus Lane at about 7 a.m. Monday. Borg was to drive to a doughnut shop on Garden Valley Boulevard, but he never arrived, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

And now, three days have passed and Borg's friends, family and church community are continuing to scour the county looking for the man. More than a dozen people have joined the search, driving as far west as Myrtle Point and as far east as Glide. They've also traveled to Myrtle Creek, Oakland and Sutherlin, Borg's son, Dan Borg, said Wednesday.

“We're just trying to figure out where he might have gone,” Dan Borg said. “He could pop up anywhere around here.”

Family and friends are focusing their search in the Winston and Green areas, though, after a possible sighting of the man Monday morning in the Green industrial area, Dan Borg said.

A community member reported encountering a man who fit Borg's description in the Green area between 10 and 11 a.m., Dan Borg said. The man, believed to be Borg, was asking for directions to Garden Valley Boulevard, he said.

Borg is described as standing 5 feet 5 inches and weighing 120 pounds. He has gray hair and blue eyes and was last seen wearing tan slacks, a red plaid shirt and oxford shoes. Borg is missing parts of three of his fingers on his left hand.

Borg was driving a tan 1995 Pontiac Bonneville four-door sedan with Oregon license plates UWS 846.

Borg has lived in Douglas County since 1962. The World War II Army veteran was a business owner for years and has remained active at Wellspring Community Church, his son said.

Anyone who has seen Borg or his vehicle is asked to contact the Douglas County Sheriff's Office at 440-4471.

Dan Borg requested that anyone who comes in contact with Borg should lead him to police or to his Garden Valley home, rather than giving his father directions.
