“A BAD YEAR FOR TOMATOES” — 7:30 tonight and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday, Betty Long Unruh Theatre, 1614 W. Harvard Ave., Roseburg. Umpqua Actors Community Theatre presents “A Bad Year For Tomatoes.” Famous movie star Myra Marlow escapes from Hollywood to a small town, but pesky neighbors bring her rest and relaxation to a halt. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children and are available at While Away Books, Hanson Jewelers and the UACT box office. 673-2125.

RICHARD SOMMER MEMORIAL MOUNT THIELSEN HIKE — 8 a.m. Saturday, Fowler Street parking lot, behind the Douglas County Library, 1409 N.E. Diamond Lake Blvd. Hikers can carpool up to the 9,182-foot peak east of Glide with hiking guides. The hike has been renamed after Richard Sommer, who helped the area get “wilderness” designation in the ‘80s. Free. Bring gas money, a lunch, water and sunscreen. 580-9120.

OREGON 150 CELEBRATION — 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Douglas County Fairgrounds, Roseburg. Performances all day by local entertainers such as the Colliding Rivers Bluegrass band, the Slow Ponies and the Heritage Players. Food and art booths, activities and more. Performance by the U.S. Navy Band at 8 p.m. Fireworks start at 9:15 p.m. Admission is three cans of food or $1.50. 957-7007.

BARN DANCE — 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, at the Elkton Community Education Center, Elkton. Country and rock music will be provided by Small Town Rumor, beer and wine by River's Edge Winery, snacks and desserts by Tomaselli's Pastry Mill and Cafe. BOOK/MEDIA SALE — noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, 250 N. Main St., Canyonville. Friends of the Canyonville Library will have a book/media sale fundraiser for the library. There will be videos, tapes, hardback and paperback books for all ages. The community is invited to browse and buy to support the local library. 839-4727.

TRADITIONAL IRISH CONCERT — 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Illahee Restaurant, 150 Bar L Ranch Rd., Glide. Fiddles, guitars, and mandolins orchestrated by the Ceili Boys make traditional Irish music come to life on Illahee's back patio.
