Woman stabbed in Green

A Roseburg woman is in critical condition at Mercy Medical Center after being stabbed several times this morning by another woman during an altercation between two groups of people in Green.

The Douglas County 911 dispatch center received a call at about 10:50 a.m. reporting that a woman had been stabbed during an altercation at Carnes Road and Castle Street in Green, according to a news release issued by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies arrived and found Tiffany Walker, 24, with multiple stab wounds. She was transported to Mercy Medical Center, were she was listed in critical condition late this afternoon, according to a hospital spokesman.

As the incident was investigated, deputies learned that Walker and several friends had become involved in an altercation with Green resident Karina Sherman, 21, near the intersection of Castle and Bourne streets.

Sherman is suspected of stabbing Walker, according to the release. Sherman then returned to her residence and was located by deputies. She had also called 911, deputies said.

Sherman was interviewed by detectives and arrested on charges that include attempted murder and first-degree assault. She was lodged at the Douglas County Jail.

More information will be reported as it becomes available.
