Tenmile man, Minnesota woman die in Hwy. 42 accident near Tenmile

Two others injured

Two people died and two others were injured Saturday night in a single-vehicle accident on Highway 42 east of Tenmile.

Oregon State Police are reporting that the driver of a 2007 Chevrolet Impala, Jason E. Wiess, 37, of Tenmile, died after arriving at Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg Saturday night.

Right rear passenger Karen K. Pourrier, 44, of Fergus Falls, Minn., was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene of the accident, according to OSP.

Two other passengers were injured. Micha Wiess, 44, of Erhard, Minn., was also ejected from the vehicle and suffered critical injuries. He was initially transported to Mercy and later flown by air ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland.

Shannon Smith, 32, of Tenmile was taken to Mercy with non-life-threatening injuries. She was the right front passenger.

Names of the victims were released just after 10 a.m. Sunday following notification of next of kin.

OSP troopers from the Roseburg office are continuing the investigation into the accident, which occurred around 9:35 p.m. Saturday near Milepost 68. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle while traveling westbound at high speed. The car rolled several times before coming to rest in a field on the north side of the highway. Alcohol and speed were contributing factors in the accident, OSP said in the press release. No information was available in regards to seat belt use by the occupants.

Highway 42 vehicle accident kills two near Tenmile

Oregon State Police troopers are continuing the investigation into a Saturday night single vehicle fatal traffic crash that resulted in the death of two people and injuries to two others along Highway 42, east of Tenmile. Names will be released later after confirmation of next of kin.

Preliminary information indicates on Oct. 24 at approximately 9:35 p.m., a 2007 Chevrolet Impala four-door with four occupants was westbound on Highway 42 near Milepost 68 when the driver lost control while attempting to negotiate a curve at high speed. The car rolled several times before coming to a rest in a field on the north side of the highway.

The 37-year-old male driver died after being transported to Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg.

A 44-year-old female passenger was deceased at the scene.

A 32-year-old female passenger and 44-year-old male passenger were injured.

Additional information will be released later today.

One dies in Highway 42 accident

One fatality was reported from a single vehicle accident on Highway 42 near Olalla, between Winston and Camas Mountain, Saturday between 9 and 9:30 p.m.

An Oregon State Police Flash Alert confirmed the fatality at milepost 67.

Emergency responders were on the scene as of the 10:26 p.m. online posting.

According to 911 dispatch scanner traffic, multiple bodies were ejected from the vehicle. The injured were transported by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center.

No other information was available as of 11 p.m. Saturday.
