Sutherlin woman hospitalized after stun gun use

SUTHERLIN — A woman was hospitalized after police used a Taser on her after they responded to a domestic disturbance Tuesday evening on Taylor Road, police said this morning.

At about 7:40 p.m., someone called police to say her mother reportedly showed up at a residence in the 200 block of Taylor Road covered in blood, according to a Sutherlin Police Department news release.

When officers arrived, they found a man and woman involved in a disturbance. The woman allegedly did not comply with an officer's verbal commands and then made an aggressive move toward the officer, who deployed his Taser, the release said.

The woman sustained a serious head injury as a result of a fall and was taken by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg and later transferred to Legacy Emanuel Hospital & Health Center in Portland.

No further information was available this morning.
