A public comment period on the city of Winston's application for a boat ramp on the South Umpqua River near Winston will end Nov. 18.
The proposed boat ramp will be at the future Harold and Sid Nichols Park.
The city would remove invasive Himalayan blackberry and Scotch broom from other areas on the site and replace them with native plantings to compensate for the impacts of this project.
The applicants have also drafted a plan to add spawning gravel for fall Chinook salmon to the lower portions of Lookinglass Creek.
Public notices for the project, named NWP-2008-714, with more information are at http://tinyurl.com/d3pf4d.
Comments should be mailed to: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; Merina Christoffersen; 1600 Executive Parkway, Suite 210; Eugene, OR 97401-2156.
