Fremont names September's stars

ROSEBURG — The following students were named Students of the Month for September:

Sixth grade — Brice McFadden, Kaitlynn Griffith-Rodgers, Jaysa West, Nekiah Moline, Stacy Henry, Abigail Prawitz.

Seventh grade — Sianna Casey, Jacob Tharp, Spencer Stone, Quinlan Morrow.

Eighth grade — Louise Bonn, Lucas Childers, Hannah Roberts, Joey Vanek, Craig Campbell.

Financial aid windows close Nov. 2

WINCHESTER — The windows at the Financial Aid Office in the Umpqua Community College Campus Center will be closed the week of Nov. 2 through Nov. 6.

This is the second time this year that the increase in enrollment has made it necessary close the financial aid offices, allowing staff there to process the higher volume of applications.

“The closure in October was extremely productive with hundreds of applications processed however we are not quite out of the woods yet,” said UCC vice president for Student development Lynn Moore. “We now have a total of 2,228 students awarded (financial aid) compared to 1,561 a year ago at this time.”

During the closure, the staff at the Information Desk in Campus Center will be answering financial aid questions for students and accepting applications for emergency advances.

If needed, additional staffing will be added to the Information Desk during this time.

WINSTON — The following students received the Superintendent Academic Awards for October 2009:
