Three Democratic candidates in the running for Oregon governor will make a joint appearance at the Douglas County Democratic Party's annual Flegel Victory Banquet on Nov. 21.
Former Gov. John Kitzhaber, former Secretary of State Bill Bradbury and former Hewlett-Packard executive Steve Shields are the featured speakers at the dinner, to be held at the Seven Feathers Convention Center in Canyonville.
Kitzhaber served from 1995 to 2003 and previously represented Douglas County in the Oregon Legislature while serving as an emergency room physician in Roseburg. Bradbury served as secretary of state from 1999 to 2009 and previously represented Coos County in the Legislature while residing in Bandon.
Shields, a political newcomer, spent 18 years at Hewlett-Packard. He was involved in the company's inkjet business and helped site facilities in Virginia and in Ireland. For the past six years, he has done consulting work and helped Oregon State University, his alma mater, to deal with declining state support.
Tickets are $37 for adults and $22 for students.
Attorney General John Kroger and Sen. Floyd Prozanski, D-Eugene, will also address the crowd. Roseburg attorney Daniel Robertson will serve as master of ceremonies.
A no-host meet and greet and silent auction will be held beginning at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30.
Tickets may be obtained by sending a check to P.O. Box 931, Roseburg, OR 97470, or by calling 672-8803 or 672-8094.
