Robert D. Coffelt "Bob"



72, passed away in his home in Days Creek, Oregon, on October 29, 2009. He is survived by his wife, Aletha of 28 years, ten children, 15 grand children, three great-grandchildren,two brothers, and three sisters.

Bob was born to the parents Orville and Marie Coffelt in Brownsville, Oregon, on December 26, 1936. He has four surviving siblings, Jeannie Norris; Susan Judith Roe; half-brother, Norman Coffelt; half-sister, Lois Johnson; deceased brother, Kenneth Coffelt and brother, David Wayne Coffelt who died in infancy.

Bob married Marie Swindler in 1956, and together they had six children: Marla Kay Bates, Robert Coffelt Jr., Selina Dixon, Teresa Gill, Kristina Meisinger, and Tina Lewis. In March of 1981 Bob remarried to Aletha Lindberg. She had four children of her own, Kim Netting, Mark Lindberg, Jeannie Schell, and Kristy Curry.

Bob attended Sutherlin High School after which he worked in the woods, drove long haul trucks and later logging trucks. In 1983 Bob and Aletha made their home in Canyonville where he worked for Lone Rock Timber and Ireland Trucking. He enjoyed ranching, carpentry, woodworking, rebuilding old John Deere tractors and playing with his beloved dog Rio. He was an avid horseman enjoying and participating in rodeos and team competitions. Bob recently purchased an award winning cutting horse and up until his death was entering local competitions. He dearly loved riding horses, especially in the backcountry wilderness areas such as the Steens Mountain, Canadian Rockies, Rogue Valley and local ranches.

Bob loved to entertain friends and family in his house. He was an honest man with a great sense of humor, and a true friend who was always there to lend a helping hand. He will truly be missed by all.

A celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday, November 21, 2009, 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Mercy Hospice, Roseburg Oregon.
