Participants in two federally-funded college preparation programs are searching for volunteer opportunities for nonprofit groups.
The students range in age from 12 to 18 and live in Roseburg, the Myrtle Creek-Tri City area, Winston and Sutherlin.
Projects can be targeted toward certain age groups or by geographic location.
Participating in volunteer projects allows Upward Bound and Educational Talent Search students to give back to the community and build activity charts for college admission and scholarships.
In the past, students have participated in clean-up opportunities, assisted children with clothing drives, helped at food banks and school carnivals and assisted at animal shelters.
Educational Talent Search and Upward Bound are hosted by Umpqua Community College and together serve 650 students in Douglas County.
The programs help students with the potential to succeed in higher education and prepare for entrance to college.
They are specifically for students whose parents do not have a bachelor's degree and have lower incomes.
If you have information on volunteer projects, please call 440-4606.
