Five Umpqua Community College students will share recent research and experiences in a noon presentation Wednesday in Room 10 of the college's science building. Their talk will center on their participation in a summer fellowship called Undergraduate Catalytic Outreach and Research Experiences.
The science research program took place at the University of Oregon this past summer.
UCC students who took part this year were Jennie Keller, Allan Mackey, Sage Kittleman, Naomi Meacham and Tina Wilson.
Students in the program do research in chemistry, physics and geology labs on projects under the supervision of professors and graduate students. The program is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation.
The students receive $3,500 for the summer, as well as room and board in dorm rooms at the university. Students then return to their home campus and are paid tutors to other science students.
Information: 440-4654.
