Funds raised by the transient room tax in Sutherlin are going to be monitored and distributed in slightly different ways according to City Manager Robb Corbett.
The funds are given to certain events to help promote tourism. Most often, the money is given to supply advertising.
The purpose will remain the same after the proposed rule change, but how the committee chooses which events to sponsor and the recipients' responsibility to report back results will undergo minor changes.
The proposed changes can be viewed at City Hall, 126 E. Central Ave., during normal business hours. Written comments on the change must be submitted to Corbett by Dec. 3 at 5 p.m.
