Roseburg Lions Club holding See's Candy sale

The Roseburg Lions Club will start selling See's Candy at their “yellow trailer” starting Friday, Nov. 20 at the northwest corner of Sherm's Thunderbird parking lot. Hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This year marks the club's 26th year of selling See's Candy in the community.

One hundred percent of the profits from candy sales are used for the club's projects to assist people in the community.

The public is welcome to bring used eye glasses, cell phones and/or empty ink cartridges to the candy trailer, too.

Used eye glasses are taken to Mexico each year. Income from used cell phones and ink cartridges is designated for the club's Mission Cataract program, which provides free cataract surgeries for needy individuals in this community.

In 2008, the club purchased 95 pairs of eye glasses with exams, six hearing aids and assisted one patient in the cost of eye surgery.

This outreach is up over 300 percent since 2004.

For information on special orders for individuals or businesses, including order dates and special free delivery within Roseburg, contact Larry Hassett at 672-1474 or Craig Jackson at 440-3954.
