Two unloaded logging trucks collided head-on Tuesday afternoon on Highway 138 West, landing both drivers in the hospital, police said late Tuesday.Jason Marlin, 32, of Myrtle Creek was driving a 1999 Kenworth semi owned by Basco Logging east near the highway's Milepost 21 at 12:35 p.m., according to an Oregon State Police news release.
Marlin's semitruck crossed the center line and struck a 2007 Kenworth truck owned by Ireland Logging and driven by William Charles Nye, 45, of Myrtle Creek.
Both drivers were taken by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg. Marlin was later flown by helicopter to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland.
A Legacy spokeswoman said Marlin was in critical condition this morning. A Mercy spokeswoman said Nye was treated and released.
