A Chapel Funeral Service will be held for Girtie L. Easley of Roseburg, formerly of Coos Bay, Oregon, on Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Coos Bay Chapel, 7th and Anderson, with Pastor Norm Russell of the North Bend Church of Christ officiating. A Graveside Committal will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 63060 Millington Frontage Road in Coos Bay. A public visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9 a.m. -1 p.m. at Coos Bay Chapel.
Girtie was born on December 10, 1931, in Hugo, Oklahoma, to Jim J. Willis and Alta V. ( Sexton ) Willis. The family believes that Girtie went to be with the Lord on November 13, 2009, in Roseburg. She was 77 years old.
Girtie married Yucca E. Easley on March 29, 1949, and they moved to Oregon in July of 1950. Girtie and Yucca were 4-H leaders of Coos River Riders in Coos County and were Coos County Posse members in 1963. Girtie was the S.W.O.H.A. Show Secretary for 17 years.
Girtie is survived by her daughter, Sandy Barraza and husband, Scott of Myrtle Creek, Oregon; grandson, Kyler Barraza of Sutherlin, Oreogn; granddaughter, Denise Stevens and husband, Todd of Coos Bay; great-grandchildren, Sydney and Saige Vaughn and Brody and Alyssa Stevens, all of Coos Bay; Longtime friend and companion, Francis Nicholson of Roseburg and his sons, Scott and Shawn, also of Roseburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Girtie was preceded in death by her husband, Yucca Easley and her daughter, Pat Vaughn Graham.
Arrangements are under the direction of Coos Bay Chapel, 267-3131.
