Police said this morning they are investigating the drowning death of a 10-month-old girl that took place Friday morning on the 600 block of Stagecoach Road.
At about 10:30 a.m. Friday, the 911 dispatch center received a call from the girl's mother saying the girl had drowned and the mother was performing CPR, according to a Douglas County Sheriff's Office news release.
Investigators were told by the parents the girl was in the bathtub with her 3-year-old brother. The parents told police the children were left unattended for a few minutes. The girl was found unresponsive by the parents after they were alerted by the 3-year-old, the release said.
Medical personnel arrived on the scene and took the girl to Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg; however, attempts to resuscitate her were not successful, the release said.
The sheriff's office is not releasing the infant's name or any more information at this time as the sheriff's office is still investigating the incident, said Deputy Dwes Hutson, spokesman for the sheriff's office.
