Before I went to the Fairgrounds on Nov. 9, I read that you couldn't get the H1N1 flu shot if you were more than 64 years old.
My doctor's office suggested that I go and try, since I am high risk because of my chemotherapy treatment for cancer. Of course, I didn't get the shot because at 73, I'm too old.
My doctor gave me a note saying I was a candidate for the shot and I was sent to the Canyonville flu shot site. They said no way, you are too old and have cancer. For those of you who wonder, no, the cancer is not terminal.
Many seniors, including myself, do not think it is fair that we are barred from receiving the flu shot.
We are put out to pasture and maybe get the flu and die. As far as I know, I've never had the bad flu or even been exposed to it when it was going around years ago. Please give the seniors a break, we have rights, too.
