In the wake of state health officials deciding to open up H1N1 vaccinations to all who want them, 10 clinics have been set up in Douglas County to offer the swine flu vaccine in coming weeks.
“Health care providers have been focusing efforts on the highest-risk people, such as pregnant women and people with underlying health conditions,” said Dawnelle Marshall, Douglas County Public Health Division director, according to a news release. “Oregon's vaccine supply is large enough now that we're able to expand the vaccination program to everyone, but we continue to urge those in the initial risk groups to be vaccinated.”
The state and the Douglas County health department are partnering with community immunization provider GetAFluShot.com to hold the clinics.
Clinic time, date and locations are:
Sutherlin Community Center, 150 S. Willamette St., 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Drain Civic Center, 205 West A St., 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday.
Elkton Community Education Center, 15850 Highway 38, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday.
Myrtle Creek Community Center, 425 N.W. Second Ave., 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday.
Winston Community Center, 440 S.E. Grape Ave., 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 22.
Douglas County Fairgrounds, Pacific Hall, 2110 S.W. Frear St., Roseburg, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 28.
Canyonville Fire Hall, 374 N. Main St., noon to 2 p.m Dec. 30.
Reedsport City Hall, 451 Winchester Ave., 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 5.
Glide Community Building, 20062 N. Umpqua Highway , 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 7.
Glendale Elementary School, 100 Pacific Ave., 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Jan. 8.
There is no charge to receive the H1N1 vaccination at these clinics, but costs of the administration of the shot is charged to insurance companies. People with health insurance should bring their insurance identification cards or proof of coverage to help them complete forms.
No co-payments will be collected from anyone with insurance. No one will be denied an H1N1 vaccination due to lack of coverage. Various forms of insurance will be accepted to cover the administration of the H1N1 vaccine, including: Medicare Part B, Medicaid, Regence BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, Group Health Cooperative, Care Oregon, Clear Choice, ODS, Uniform Medical Plan of Washington and Aetna.
