Douglas County agencies, office announce holiday closures



Douglas County residents will celebrate the beginning of a new year Friday. Many businesses and offices will be closed to allow employees to spend time with their families.

The News-Review will be published as usual on Friday, although the office will be closed. It will reopen at 8 a.m. Monday.

The following local government offices, schools and businesses will also be affected by the holiday:

• Public schools remain closed and will resume classes on Monday.

• The Umpqua National Forest, the Bureau of Land Management and other federal offices will be closed Friday.

• State offices and courts will be closed Friday.

• Douglas County offices and the Douglas County Museum will be closed Friday.

• City halls in Canyonville, Drain, Oakland , Glendale, Myrtle Creek, Reedsport, Riddle, Roseburg, Sutherlin, Winston and Yoncalla will be closed Friday. Elkton City Hall will be closing at noon on Thursday and closed Friday.

• Post offices will be closed Friday and no mail will be delivered.

• Douglas County landfills and transfer stations will be closed Friday.

• Winston Sanitary Service cans may be emptied earlier than usual. Sutherlin Sanitary Service will hold regular hours Friday. Roseburg Disposal will pick up Friday's route

on Saturday.

• Banks will be closed Friday.

• Umpqua Transit buses and paratransit will not operate Friday.

• Oregon Liquor Control Commission contract stores decide individually on holiday hours. Contact store for information.

• The Cow Creek Tribal Offices will be closing at 1 p.m. Thursday and closed Friday.

• Umpqua Training & Employment will be closed through Monday.
