A partially completed rail switching yard next to Interstate 5 north of Roseburg sits idle, waiting for completion. The yard would allow Central Oregon & Pacific Railroad to operate shorter trains and end congestion problems at Roseburg rail crossings because of the railroad's cramped switching yard located near downtown.
Central Oregon & Pacific Railroad and the state of Oregon have reached a tentative settlement in the Roseburg-based railroad's lawsuit against the Oregon Transportation Commission.
