Clarence was escorted by Angels to the lighted path to his perfect hunting grounds in Heaven on Friday, March 6, 2010, at the age of 80. He was born on February 10, 1930, in Lemmon, South Dakota, to parents, Ole and Lydia (Davis) Opheim. He worked for Drain Plywood for many years as well as other mills. He retired from Kimwood Manufacturing in 1992. He grew up and attended school in Dorena and graduated from High School in Yoncalla. He lived a majority of his life in Cottage Grove, Yoncalla and Bonanza, Oregon. Clarence married Laura “Jan” Duncan on November 21,1989, in Tenmile, Oregon. He loved spending time with his family and dancing. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He also liked shooting and reloading as well as gold panning and metal detecting. Clarence was a member of the National Rifle Association. He is survived by Jan Opheim; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Jennifer Opheim of Yoncalla; daughter, Debbie Opheim of Montana; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Don Goodrich of Bend, Oregon; step-children, Laurie Bond, Lance Stevenson, and Gina Armstrong; sister, Wanda Koch of Washington; seven grandchildren, Dustin Morris; Mindy Reynolds; Scott Opheim; Tara Merrill; Jennifer Goodrich; Jason Goodrich and Desirae Shunk. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 12, 2010, 2 p.m. at Yoncalla Assembly of God Church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Oregon Hunter Safety Program.
