Brandon Ramey, a Roseburg High School graduate, is the new head track and field coach at Newberg High after serving as an assistant the past two years.
The 31-year-old Ramey, who played football and ran track at Roseburg, participated in football and track at Western Oregon University in Monmouth before beginning his teaching career. He was a part-time teacher, and assistant football and track coach at RHS before moving to Newberg.

Boys & Girls Clubs offers lacrosse, volleyball
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Umpqua Valley is starting a fifth/sixth and seventh/eighth-grade boys lacrosse academy this spring, and a third/fourth, fifth, and sixth-grade volleyball academy.
Cost for the lacrosse is $60. Registration has started and runs through March 19. Lacrosse will run from March 30-May 29. Games will be played in Roseburg and Eugene.
Cost for volleyball is $45. Sign-ups run through March 31, with the season going from April 19-May 29.

The Maddog Winter Bull Riding Series resumes in the Pavilion Building at the Douglas County Fairgrounds Saturday night, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door.

The Douglas County Men's Softball Association will hold its first meeting of the year at 6:30 tonight at Clint Newell Motors.

holding fundraiser
The Roseburg High boys lacrosse team is holding a 10-year celebration poster fundraiser, selling tributes of former players for $50 on the poster.
It will include the player's name, their jersey number and the years they played on the team. Anyone wishing to get their name on the poster should contact Leigh Ann Caddock at 541-680-1351. The deadline is Monday.
