Extension spotlight: Douglas County set to start new 4-H year

October 3-9 is National 4-H Week, and Douglas County is celebrating. This is the kickoff to the new 4-H year. Community clubs are accepting new members, in-school and afterschool programs are being jump-started and volunteers from the community have the chance to become Oregon State University trained 4-H leaders. Look for 4-H Ambassadors throughout the community spreading the word.The fundamental 4-H ideal of practical "learn-by-doing" experiences encourage youth to experiment, innovate and think independently. 4-H programs are offered through school-based, after-school camp settings and within community clubs.Volunteers are the backbone of the Douglas County 4-H program.
