For many years, the aroma of fresh toffee filled the Holm family home in Glide once or twice a year and always meant Thanksgiving or Christmas was near. Not long after the family matriarch, Donna, retired from teaching in 2007, the sweet smell began wafting around a lot more often. Holm, 59, launched her toffee business, Holm Made Toffee, late that year. Aside from the occasional helping hand from her three children, Holm runs the business single-handedly from her home.
