Update 10:15 a.m.: A rock slide closed Oregon Highway 42 east of Myrtle Point at the Coos County-Douglas County line (MP 45.5) just before 6 a.m. Monday, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation. ODOT estimates it will take several hours to reopen the highway. Maintenance crews are on scene to clear rocks and boulders from the highway. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes for travel between U.S. 101 and Interstate 5. No estimate has been given as to when the road may reopen.
