He was born on December 28, 1923 in Montpelier, Idaho to parents George Ross Jones and Barbara Musette Parks.
Raymond died at home with his family at his side on January 12, 2012. He died of age related causes at the ripe old age of 88. Ray lived a full and eventful life. He was raised by aunts and uncles in the Idaho area. He loved the farm life, but the bombing of Pearl Harbor called him to duty. He served for 6 years in the US Navy. He was on the U.S.S. Shaw in 1942 and then moved to the U.S.S. Moale from 1944-1947 and participated in the 1946 Atomic Bomb tests at Bikini (Operations Crossroads) He received many awards during the war. He met his bride, Jane Jones, in Australia just as the war was winding down. He was able to return to Australia after the war to attend school and pursue Jane. They were married for 58 years until her death in 2007. They returned to the United States in 1959 and settled in California. He worked as a civil service employee until his retirement at the age of 62. He spent his retirement puttering around the yard, golfing, biking and taking care of our mother. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He is survived by his children, Paul Jones (Jackie), Todd Jones (Adri) and Stacey Crowe (Gary), five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. No services at Ray's request. The family will have a celebration of life gathering sometime in the summer 2012. The family thanks Home Helpers and Amedisys Hospice Services for their kind help during the last few months of Dad's life.
