November 4, 1936 - January 24, 2012
Frieda went to be with her Lord following a tragic accident while wintering in Yuma, Arizona. Winters in Yuma with friends had become a tradition for over 15 years. Frieda was born in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, to Fred and Mary Houser and was raised in Hot Springs, Arkansas, where she graduated. Frieda attended Nursing School at St. Joseph's Hospital and practiced Nursing in Arkansas and Oregon for many years. Frieda also owned a floral business in Canyonville, Oregon.
Her real claim in life was being a housewife and mother to her husband, Jerry and sons, Fred and Joel Henson. Jerry and Frieda were married in Hot Springs, Arkansas in 1955. They moved to Oregon and lived most of their lives in Riddle. They were inseparable companions as they fished, hunted, rode four-wheelers, and attended every sporting event that their sons and neighbors were involved in.
Frieda and Jerry began wintering in Yuma, Arizona after retirement. They were active in the Shangri-La RV Resort where Frieda volunteered for almost everything. She loved her winter family and especially enjoyed her shuffle boarding. Frieda became very good at the sport and won many tournaments.
Frieda was a member of the Tri-City Baptist Church and lived her life for the Lord.
She is preceded in death by her mother, father, her sisters, Shirley and Sally, and her beloved son, Fred. Frieda is survived by her husband, Jerry; her son, Joel and his wife Robin; her brother, John Houser; and three grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held in Yuma on Friday, February 17, 2012 and at Tri-City Baptist Church of Myrtle Creek at a later date.
