Karen Marie Schaan (Ohms) 68, of Roseburg, Oregon, went to be with our Lord and Savior June 20, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by her family. Karen was born June 23, 1943 in Northwood, North Dakota to James and Ida (Sears) Ohms. She completed High School and attended Nursing School in North Dakota before meeting Thomas Virgil Schaan. They were married on April 4, 1964 in Minot, N.D. and moved to Roseburg where they started their family. In Roseburg, Karen worked at several nursing homes and at Mercy Hospital. She enjoyed camping, baking, playing piano and organ. She is survived by her sons, Virgil Schaan of Roseburg, Michael (Shellie) Schaan of Medford; daughters Michelle (Tim) Gautney, Teresa (Ron) Shivers both of Roseburg; brother Don (Betty) Ohms of Anthem, AZ, sister Joni (Rod) Mitchell of Fairbanks, AK, brother-in-law Wes Williams of Hopkins, MN; grandchildren Thomas, Amanda, Haiden, Kiegan, Paige and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Ida, husband of 47 years Thomas, and her sister Evelyn Jean Williams. Services will be held Sunday, July 1, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
