					Firefighters responded shortly after 7 a.m. today to an electrical fire at Herbert Lumber Company in the 600 block of Riddle By-Pass Road. A mill official said an electrical panel blew off the wall, and the fire was small. Firefighters from Riddle, Myrtle Creek, Tri City and Canyonville responded. Canyonville Fire Chief Raymond Brown said his firefighters went to the fire but were not needed. Efforts to reach officials with the other fire departments were unsuccessful.  &hellip;

					A 54-year-old Roseburg woman who said she was attacked by a man Sunday while walking on Mill Street near Woodward Avenue was treated and released from Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg. The woman said an unknown male grabbed her purse and tried to steal it before throwing her to the ground around 11:20 p.m., Roseburg police said. She said she yelled for help and the man ran off. The woman was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg, where she received stitches on a finger and learned she had a broken shoulder, police said.  &hellip;

					A man trying to run away from police sprinted into a large garbage can, knocking him down, Roseburg police said Monday. Police responded to a report of a fight at the Wild Rose bar, 805 S.E. Stephens St., about 2:30 a.m. Monday. Witnesses said a man trying to kiss another man’s girlfriend started the trouble. Police suspected Cody John Kame, 22, of Roseburg was the aggressor and was able to arrest him after he was knocked to the ground. 					A 6-year-old boy called an emergency dispatcher to say he was home alone Monday afternoon, starting a series of events that culminated in the arrest of the boy’s grandmother, Roseburg police said today. Mauree Frances Lemire, 47, of Roseburg was arrested around 4 p.m. in the 3000 block of Douglas Avenue on suspicion of child neglect. After the initial call, the boy’s mother was contacted at her job. 					A high-speed crash early Saturday on Diamond Lake Boulevard led to the arrest of two drivers on suspicion of reckless driving and reckless endangering, Roseburg police said. Jesse Michael Stout, 27, of Coos Bay and Joseph Michael Gazarek, 21, of Roseburg were seen by an officer leaving a parking lot in the 24000 block of Diamond Lake at about 2:15 a.m., police said. 					A Roseburg man arrested Wednesday on suspicion of stealing beer and assaulting two store employees had to be fitted with a mask to keep him from spitting, police said. Tyler Scott Schexnider, 34, was booked into the Douglas County Jail on suspicion of third-degree theft and two counts of harassment, all misdemeanors. Schexnider was accused of trying to shoplift beer from a Texaco station at 334 Harvard Avenue. He allegedly pushed a 38-year-old employee and punched a 50-year-old employee, police said. 			<title>Idlelyd Park: Tree closes boat ramp at Boulder Flat Campground</title>

					The boat ramp at Boulder Flat Campground is closed today while workers move a large tree spanning the river between Boulder Flat and Eagle Rock campgrounds. The tree came down last weekend, and a contractor with special equipment hopes to have it removed in time for the Forest Service to reopen the boat ramp Saturday. The tree will be re-positioned so it no longer poses a hazard to boaters, but still provides habitat for salmon and steelhead in the North Umpqua River. 					An Idleyld Park man suffered minor injuries when the log truck he was driving went off the road in the 7500 block of Rice Creek Road around 4 p.m. Wednesday, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said today. Neil Grant, 61, was driving the loaded truck downhill when he lost control on a hairpin corner and went into a ditch, deputies said. 					Recently retired Postal Service driver Dennis Bellis says he’s been looking for ways to fill the hours. 					The Umpqua National Forest is looking for volunteer campground hosts for the summer season. Campground hosts are usually needed from May until October. Their duties include greeting campers, providing information about the area and recreational activities, and general campground maintenance. They are needed at Horsebend, Bogus Creek, Wolf Creek, Poole Creek, Broken Arrow and Diamond Lake campgrounds. A customer service volunteer is also needed at the Diamond Lake Visitor Center. Hosts help the Umpqua National Forest monitor campground use and ensure that campers pay the usage fees. 			<title>Roseburg hires Portland company to repair pipe</title>

					The Roseburg City Council voted unanimously Monday to pay Apex Directional Drilling of Portland $345,463 to repair a broken water pipe near Laurelwood Park. The pipe crosses the South Umpqua River between Laurelwood and the city’s main reservoir. The pipe sprang a 2 million gallon per day leak in January 2012 when a storm caused strong river currents and debris to repeatedly hit it. Water valves were shut off after the leak was located, reducing water flows to southwest Roseburg.
