A life-size horse sculpture fashioned from wood and metal will welcome visitors to a new Umpqua Valley Arts Center exhibit that will invite viewers to walk on the wild side. “Animal Attraction,” which will open Friday at the Roseburg center on Harvard Avenue, will showcase animal-themed pieces by 20 Oregon artists, including four from Douglas County. The gallery’s five-member committee hit upon the theme, gallery manager Aleta McGee said. “I depend on the gallery committee to bring me golden nuggets of great ideas,” she said. The show will include pottery, photography, paintings and sculptures executed with a variety of materials. …
