Always #likeagirl ad envokes emotional response | Moms

Have you seen this? Women and girls alike are in tears all over the place...

Perhaps it was because our household was supported by our working mother, maybe it was because there were two girls in our family, or that I really loved sports and played them with boys when I was a pre-teen.

Whatever it was, when someone told me I did something “like a girl,” it would disturb me.

I didn’t take it as a compliment. I recognized the purpose of the words.

They were meant to be derogatory, they were meant to bite and scorn. An annoying ringing in my ears, they were meant to put me in my place.
