The human remains found near Myrtle Creek this week belong to Brian David Clark, 43, of Myrtle Creek, according to the Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Investigators are still looking into the cause of death.

Clark was reported missing to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in December. On May 15, a caller told police he found the remains while walking near the riverbank near milepost 108 on Interstate 5.

On Dec. 24, Clark’s friend told the sheriff’s office that he had not seen Clark in several days. Deputies took a missing person report and entered Clark into a national law enforcement database as missing.

Clark was last known to be in the 2000 block of Cow Creek Road, where his motor home was parked on Dec. 13. Clark left the area on foot without his cell phone.

The Douglas County Major Crimes Team is leading the investigation.
