Are you a family forestland owner? Forester? Logger? Arborist? Teacher? General forestland enthusiast? Then Tree School Umpqua is for you!

On Friday, March 31, 2017, at the Phoenix Charter School in Roseburg, the OSU Extension Service of Douglas County will offer Tree School Umpqua, a one-day mini-college featuring 28 classes on a variety of forest-related topics.

This day-long event offers something for everyone. Class topics include:

  • Timberland taxes
  • Biochar operations
  • Truffle production
  • Log scaling
  • Special forest products
  • Thinning young stands
  • Ponds
  • Hiring forestry professionals
  • Cabin building
  • Forest management planning
  • Forest carbon
  • Tree identification
  • Income opportunities for forestland owners
  • And so much more!

A wide array of professionals and experts will teach the classes, including folks from OSU Extension Service, Oregon Forest Resources Institute, U.S. Forest Service, Oregon Department of Forestry, Natural Resource Conservation Service, Douglas Forest Protective Association, Pinchot Institute for Conservation, Umpqua Biochar Education Team, Barnes & Associates Inc., New World Truffieres Inc., Havel Designs and Oregon Herb & Craft LLC.

Tree School Umpqua is guaranteed to be a fun and educational event for the whole family! A catered lunch will be provided to each participant, as well as a one-of-a-kind tote bag. And don’t forget the lunchtime raffle; it’s one you won’t want to miss!

Early registration runs from Feb. 1 to March 1 and is $55 per person. Don’t wait too long to register....seats will fill up fast! We are offering late registration from March 2 to 19 at an increased rate of $75 per person, and we are not accepting walk-ins on the day of the event.
