At the beginning of the year, when many were making New Year’s resolutions and some were picking a word for the year, I made an inspiration picture.
Not much different than actual resolutions, really, but for my visual personality, it is more inspiring than a list of words on paper.
Simply put, I perused my favorite spot (a.k.a. Pinterest) and picked out quotes that I hope will inspire me this year.
One in particular is, in my opinion, a very lovely thought: “Her heart said ‘It’s time to create!’ Her soul overheard and replied, ‘It’s about time!’”
For so long I have been stuck in a rut of doing the basics. I clean house, make dinners, make and keep appointments, go to work.
I’ve longed to do something creative.
I’ve done a few things here and there, usually a project for an event, though, not “just because.”
Victoria Knight came with her vast knowledge of art and hooked me on painting with acrylics!
The idea of coming into a class and leaving a couple of hours later with a completed, dry painting is so fun.
For your class fee, you get instruction and the paint, brushes, easel and canvas you need for the chosen project.
I was nervous at first. I’m not a painter. But Victoria did a great job taking us through each stroke of the process.
It was so fun to sit at the easel and create something beautiful. I needed that time.
Truthfully, I think I need to make time for things like this. There is something special about setting aside time to be purposeful, but purposefully not doing what you normally do. Does that make sense?
I look forward to my next creative adventure. My soul is yelling, “It’s about time!”
