Winston teen hit by car in fair condition in Springfield

A Winston teenager who was hit by a car in Winston while crossing Highway 99 remained in the hospital today, almost a month after the accident.

Justin Jones, 16, is in fair condition at Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiberBend in Springfield.

Jones, a Roseburg High School student, darted across the highway in front of a southbound vehicle near Helwig Road on Jan. 17.

He was initially taken to Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg before being taken north.

Jones was in critical condition until Jan. 27, when he was upgraded to serious. He was upgraded to fair condition Feb. 1.
