This is what summer is for | Moms

When the otter pops drip sticky

Over the floor freshly mopped, and the door

Constantly swings open -

Welcoming flies and you say, once more,

“Stay outside!”

Remember:

This is what summer is for.

When the bathing suits lie, molding,

B’neath all the towels on the bathroom floor,

And the ants come traipsing merrily,

Due to the forgotten apple core -

Breath deeply.

And remember:

This is what summer is for.

When the fridge holds only cold air,

and you make one more trip to the store;

When the TV is constantly humming,

And they’ve forgotten what’s four times four -

Just relax.

And remember:

This is what summer is for.

When the noise starts about boredom,

And you’ve given them all one more chore;

But they’ve loaded the Nerf guns hast’ly,

To pass the time with a war -

Arm yourself.

And remember:

This is what summer is for.

Seasons pass by in succession,

Too fast if we choose to ignore

That God gives them each in His timing

To spend with the ones we adore.

His goodness!

Remember:

This is what summer is for.
