First week of school! It’s exciting for all parents, both of toddlers and school-age children.
I love seeing all the adorable pictures of first day of school students. The little chalkboard signs with “1st day of _______” written prettily are precious.

When she was a first-time student, we sat her with her backpack in front of the front door with her little brother and sister (in a carseat) and snapped the very first one.
Every year since, we’ve added a new one.
This year was a very different year, though.
Where we have always had the three students in the picture - this year we had one. With our son away at Basic Training and our daughter leaving for Uganda earlier that morning, our youngest took the traditional picture by herself. (We did snap a couple with big sis before she headed to the airport!)
Excuse my sentimentality for a moment. What a weird year it has been! So many changes to our family life. And that is how it should be.
Your babies grow up. They discover their passions and fly off to Africa or spend months away training.
You hope you have done everything you should have done in between those snapshots taken each year. You have, and they will do great.
So moms, take lots of pictures. That way you will be left with lots of images to enhance the sweet memories of your little ones growing up.
