Virginia Scheffer suffered for more than 10 years from leg pain she thought was caused by pressure on her sciatic nerve. Something was wrong with Scheffer’s legs, but the trouble was in her veins. Scheffer, a diabetic, suffered from critical limb ischemia. Plaque and blood clots clogged her veins. Her legs were starved for blood and oxygen.
