Rain improves Umpqua River catch

Compiled by The News-ReviewThe rain in the last week has improved the catch for Umpqua River system fishermen.Silvers (coho), fall chinook and winter steelhead are options for Umpqua anglers.Following are reports from sources who deal with the fisheries on a daily basis."The fish are moving upriver. "I'm still hearing about a couple bright chinook in the river. They're later bloomers. I weighed a 40-pound dark chinook the other day."I haven't seen any winter steelhead yet.
