Winemaker scouts potential sister city in northern Spain

Aranda de Duero in Spain's northern hill country has a lot in common with Roseburg.Dr. Earl Jones, owner and winemaker at Abacela Winery near Winston, knows. He's been there a few times.Aranda de Duero has a population of 28,000 and sits at almost the same latitude as Roseburg, roughly the 43rd parallel. "It's in a large farming valley much like the Umpqua (valley)," he said.Jones has been to northern Spain several times. "My purpose is just self-education.
