Essay contest will decide fate of bookstore

Karen Tolley is taking an unconventional approach to selling her business, While Away Books, in Roseburg.Unconventional because she's not so much selling the establishment as she is looking to give it to the person who earns it.And how might a person earn a bookstore, you ask?By putting into words -- 250 or fewer -- the qualities, experiences and ideas you would bring to the shop should you suddenly become a bookstore proprietor.Tolley said she got the idea from an Associated Press article that ran in The News-Review last winter.
