A $134,429 grant from The Ford Family Foundation will help nurses in Douglas County learn to work with low-income parents to stop child abuse before it starts. Douglas County Health and Social Services has received a three-year grant to bring the nationally recognized child abuse prevention program Nurse Family Partnership to Douglas County. The program pairs nurses with new mothers. Nurses visit mothers and babies in their homes. They provide health care and teach positive child-rearing techniques.
