Catholic health group awards grant to prevent child abuse in Douglas County

A coalition of 30 public and private agencies working to prevent child abuse in Douglas County has received a $110,275 grant from Catholic Health Initiatives. The Up2Us Now Child Abuse Prevention coalition hopes the grant will be the first of three years of funding, said Lisa Platt, president of the Mercy Foundation, which received the grant on behalf of the coalition. “We’re finding all kinds of innovative ways to reach out to families to prevent child abuse.
