Expect $4 gas, lots of traffic and great weather

A familiar Labor Day combination of high gas prices, heavy traffic and pleasant weather will hold true for this year’s three-day weekend as residents flock outdoors for the waning days of summer. Some 33 million Americans will drive at least 50 miles to reach their holiday destination, including 4 million in a five-state West region that includes Oregon, according to an estimate by AAA, formerly known as the American Automobile Association. Travelers can expect gas prices in Oregon to hover around $4 a gallon. The current average price of $3.98 is 29 cents lower than peak prices this year, but …
