Umpqua Bank is expanding its presence in Northern California with plans to spend $24.9 million to acquire the Novato, Calif.-based Circle Bank and its branches in six Bay Area cities. The Roseburg-based Umpqua Bank announced Thursday an agreement to purchase Circle Bank and take over branches in Corte Madera, Novato, Petaluma, San Francisco, San Rafael and Santa Rosa. The branches will add to Umpqua Bank’s 193 locations in Oregon, California, Washington and Nevada.
