ELKTON — A midafternoon fire Monday on Highway 38 delayed Labor Day travelers and burned 1 1/2 acres of vegetation, according to the Douglas Forest Protective Association. The agency said firefighters responded at 3:30 p.m. to a report of a fire burning on both sides of the highway five miles west of Elkton at Milepost 31. DFPA Fire Prevention Specialist Kyle Reed said the fire was moving fast through the vegetation.
