Fire danger upgraded from high to extreme

Extended dry weather and forecasts of brisk winds for the weekend have prompted the Douglas Forest Protective Association to increase fire danger from high to extreme. Douglas County has not had rain for nearly seven weeks. Temperatures are expected to be in the high to mid-80s this weekend. DFPA Fire Prevention Specialist Kyle Reed said today those conditions pose enough of a threat to raise fire danger to its highest level. “The underlying thing is that it is still hot out and still dry out,” he said. “We’ve got wind forecasted, which is bad for fire danger.” Extreme fire danger …
