WINSTON — If summer vacation is over, there’s no indication Winston residents are accepting it. A significant percentage of them, along with visitors from surrounding areas, sprawled out across Riverbend Park Saturday afternoon to enjoy summer-like pursuits ranging from watermelon-eating contests to mud volleyball, all taking place at the 44th annual Winston-Dillard Melon Festival. The three-day celebration continues today with mud volleyball starting at 9 a.m., church in the park at 10 a.m., bingo at noon and talent shows, a Lego competition and other events in the afternoon.
