A Riddle man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of poaching and accused of pretending he shot a bull elk with an arrow during bow season when he actually used a gun. Jim Martin, 42, was arrested following a two-week investigation that began after someone called in an anonymous report of a rifle shot near the former Glenbrook Nickel Mine outside Riddle. Oregon State Police Trooper Aaron Baimbridge responded to the Aug. 25 call and located a group of men leaving the mine area with an elk that had six points on each side of its antlers.
