Roseburg woman wins 42 bottles of Umpqua Valley wine

A Roseburg resident’s eighth entry into a contest intended to increase visitors to Umpqua Valley wineries yielded 42 bottles of wine, which winemakers said was collectively worth almost $2,000. Elaine Lavington won the 2012 Umpqua Valley Winegrowers Association’s passport contest. She collected her winnings Saturday in the HillCrest Vineyard tasting room west of Roseburg. She took home wine from 21 wineries, with an average value of $45 per bottle, according to the winegrowers association.
